The AP had a story today about Entergy. Their quarterly profits are down to a mere $400.9 million due to a number of things. Don't worry however, they think uprates at nuclear plants will carry them:

"However, Entergy Nuclear earnings should be up after the company increased the levels of energy its nuclear plants could produce during 2003, and saw fewer unplanned outages."

Uprates, as we all know, are very important right now.

In other energy news, the government says that gas prices will go up at least a nickel, stay high through the summer, and should come back down in the fall right before the election.

Finally, the Los Angeles Times has a story today about a giant geothermal facility in California that generates 1 million megawatts of power. It's great, except that residents of the town experience daily earthquakes and are getting upset.

This concludes your energy briefing.
