There Was No Middle Class Tax Cut

A couple of years ago, I received a check in the mail from the Federal Government in the amount of $600.00, with a letter from them telling me what a great guy George W. Bush was for pushing through this tax cut.

Then about a year later, I received my property tax bill and it was about $500 higher per year than it had been. This is because the State of Vermont, like every other state, was now SERIOUSLY short of cash. Why were the states short of cash? Because the federal government had substantially cut funding to the states and municipalities. Why did the federal government cut funding to the states and municipalities? Because Bush's tax cut squandered the surplus he inherited from Bill Clinton and turned it into a huge deficit.

Then people around the country started noticing some rather rigorous enforcement of speeding laws, parking ban tickets, ect. Increases in fines and fees were observed everywhere. The price of getting a copy of a birth certificate in Massachusetts, for example, went from $6 to $28.

We personally are no better off. The middle class benefitted zero from the "tax cut". Now social security and medicare are in serious financial jepardy as the national debt and interest payments on the national debt skyrocket out of control.

Gee, thanks Mr. Bush.
