This idea was raised yesterday at the May Day celebration in Brattleboro as well as here prevously...
Here's an idea... 333 prominent citizens signed a petition calling for the managing editor's return to the paper. Hardly a likely prospect...But brave none-the-less...Praiseworthy...
Why not take this the next logical step...
Protest...Protest the firing...In the traffic circle...In front of the Reformer driveway...Downtown...
Make noise and be seen...
Why not make so difficult...That the paper's corporate owners agree to sell. And get out of town with their money to re-invest in a more profitable paper elsewhere...
Sell to A) a local capitalist or owning-class person, maybe old Miller family?B) A collective of citizens, C) another but independently newspaper---Rutland Herald, Keene Sentinel, D) Another but better newspaper chain---Knight-Ridder? New York Times group?
Any of the above would be better than the current situation.
Make it painful enough so Dean sell out to an owner more in tune with Brattleboro's needs.
Put your bodies where your signatures are. A picket line...
If even 10% of that 333 do this...This could make a difference...
Put your money where your signatures are...
Like I did....
When I protested in support of the union drive last year at the Round-a-bout..
