So I heard on NPR the other night about freecycye.org, a "movement" of sorts which takes the ebay idea but for free stuff, and community-, or regionally-based.
Essentially, you can put anything you want, except what they call "age-inappropriate" materials-i.e. pornography, on the site as long as it's free. While there's the swap at the waste disposal site, and the thrift store for inexpensive items, this seems both efficient and useful.
I remember having things I didn't want, but thought someone could use, but didn't have a method for finding that person who could use them. Well, here it is. And Brattleboro already has a group. It's a yahoo group. You can go to www.freecycle.org or access it through Yahoo's groups, I'd imagine. For now there are very few people on it, but as it grows, it'll get more and more useful.
