What Democracy Looks Like
BRATTLEBORO - A number of community groups are joining together as one unit in this year's Fourth of July Parade. Over a dozen groups will be
marching under one banner, "This Is What Democracy Looks Like."
At a time when political participation is at an all-time low, and our
civil liberties as defined by the Constitution are shrinking daily, it
is particularly relevant to demonstrate the importance of civic service
in the democratic process. Our purpose is to commemorate those who work both in and outside our system of governance. Independence Day is an
ideal time to celebrate our freedom and ability to make a difference,
and to encourage all to share their ideas and voice their opinions.
Some of the participating groups include Alana, Brattleboro Area Peace & Justice Group, iBrattleboro, New England Coalition, Nuclear Free Vermont, and radio free brattleboro. The sponsors of this procession, Brattleboro Area Peace and Justice Group, invite everyone to help us show what democracy looks like! For more information, please contact Dora Bouboulis at 254-7319.
