Brat Library

I am one of the more than 2,000 people who live near Brattleboro and choose to pay the $40 annual fee to use the Brattleboro public library. I would like to suggest two ways to make our wonderful library even better.

On several occasions, including cold winter days, I have noticed a line of 15 or more people waiting for the library to open at 10 a.m. If a hardware or other store had a line of customers waiting outside for it to open, the owner would probably decide to open earlier. I think our library should open at 9 a.m.

Second, I have noticed that most of the hundreds of music CDs at the library are classical music. There are far fewer popular music CDs. If what is played on the radio in Brattleboro, or what sells best nationally, is any indication of what kind of music most of our library's patrons like, the library should buy a lot more popular music.

If you agree with these suggestions, or if you have any of your own, please contact the library's trustees. Their names and e-mail addresses are at the library's web site: www.brooks.lib.vt.us
