August added 144,000 jobs. Where are the jobs being added the most? Social assistance and health care area led with an increase of 42,000 in August. Ambulatory health care services (+11,000) and hospitals (+8,000). Social assistance (+21,000). Over the year employment in this industry has risen by 307,000.

Employment in rental and leasing services added 7,000 jobs because more and more people have lost their homes due to bankruptcy.

Financial activities services increased by 18,000 because the rich need more and more help these days dealing with their riches.

Employment in transportation equipment rebounded (+28,000) but this increase mostly reflected auto workers returning to work from the annual retooling shutdowns in July.

In the white-collar job area, the office jobs known as professional and technical services, they added 22,000 but mostly in computer systems design (+9,000) so that less and less people are needed to do the job that a computer system can do.

We're turning in corners.
