Entergy Nuclear thinks 29% of the radiation it puts out is exempt from state reporting!

From a letter sent April 8, by Susan Hofmann, head lawyer for the VT Dept. of Public Service, to the Public Service Board, regarding the "fence line radiation dose" from Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee:

... "1. The Health Department Radiation Standard requires the use of a conversion factor such that: A dose of 1R (Roentgen) due to X- or gamma radiation is considered to be equivalent to a dose of one rem (Regulation Part 5, Chapter 3, 5-303 (K)).

2. Entergy has used a conversion factor of 1 R equals 0.71 rem for monitoring and reporting fence line doses. This conversion factor has been applied to the majority of the dose components comprising Vermont Yankee’s total fence line dose."...
