SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. - Favorite old-time radio shows will be back on the air when Main Street Arts presents Saxtons River Live! Saturday, May 28 at 8 p.m.
The cabaret-style performance will feature original takes on shows popular during the heyday of radio in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Jack Benny, Fibber McGee and Molly, Burns and Allen, Shyster, Flywheel and Shyster, Abbott and Costello Bob and Ray and The Bickersons are some of the personalities who will make an “appearance.”
Songs, skits, comedy routines and interviews will be interspersed with commercials for such oldies as Armour Hot Dogs, Johnson’s Wax, and Shafer Beer. The original scripts for the skits have been researched and adapted by Stuart Joseph. Director is Mary Hepburn, and Lucinda Barnard is musical director.
Seating will be cabaret style, with desserts and beverages on sale during the show.
