do you know I can talk to animals
the first thing I do is listen
I am very still
they are talking in the woods and
in the meadow
singing fills the trees
on the edge of the pond
I hear them
sometimes it’s such a racket
but I listen still
then I sculpt my lips and mouth
I inhale and let a sheep song go
or a puppy cry
they turn and stare at me
this human
speaking their language
you know I do it
because I love them
