I am so happy to see that the squabble between the BPD and the Flow Studios has been resolved by the two parties ripping up the tar of Elliot Street and creating a big sand box for everybody. Will this make the coming Gallery Walk safe for the patrons of dance and art to give pause and perhaps watch the performances without fear of the car traffic nor the BPD hindering such an experience?
Will the opportunity to stamp the coming pavement to be cobblestone like be missed? It seems as though stamping the very edge of the roadway would be a great intermediary between car traffic and pedestrian traffic. The plows would pass over it easily and the strength isn't compromised. The best part is the drivers feel it as a rumble and slow there speed or correct the path of the vehicle.
I think that with out reopening the discussion for closing those blocks entirely, like a Church Street, a moderate compromise of texturing the roadway to convey that we would like these areas to be pedestrians predominant traffic patterns.
