Well... if you've been chomping at the bit to see BCTV shape up and fly right, clearly one way to do that is through cleaning up the Bylaws. This Thursday from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Selectboard Room in City Hall, come and tell the Bylaws and Policies Committee what you think should change.
There can and should be member response to the proposed changes approved by the present Board. A new Bylaws is up for BCTV member approval or modification. (That's YOU voting on approving or modifying... if you've signed up 30 days before the coming Aug. 17 special member meeting).
This meeting has to function... which means you have to do your part.
Please read the OLD Bylaws that are in effect now. Read the NEW Bylaws that are proposed by the Board. Both versions are at the BCTV office at the Town Hall... and I'll try to get them somehow both on the Internet or here on iBrattleboro.
Make notes about what you think won't work, and WRITE DOWN changed wording that you think will work. Bring that better wording to the public committee meeting on Thursday afternoo... so we can hear all the proposed amendments to the Board's proposed version.
ON AUGUST 17 (Wednesday) the Board will hear the member amendments, vote whether to accept them, and then pass them back to YOU for final approval that night.
IF THIS WORKS... we'll have a newly-updated set of Bylaws, approved by both Board and Membership, in place and in effect by the end of the August 17 meeting. (Which means we can run our next Annual Meeting and Board election by the new Bylaws rules.)
