I owe Mike Hebert a personal apology. Not too long ago, as many iBrattleboro readers are aware, Mike accepted censure from BCTV's Board for his very uncharacteristic outburst of profanity just after a Board meeting. This was under the eye of the public... and in a charged environment I'd say he took his censure graciously.
Whatever Mike and I disagree on... and that seems to touch several areas of how business is conducted (or not) at BCTV... I can't fault him for this. And he heard from me that I would drop the matter.
Through insufficient follow-through on my part to make sure the matter was dropped, a leaflet I was given to hand out a few days later during a "new member" drive event at the Food Co-op, contained much critical language about Mike's conduct at Board meetings... digging back up the resolved issue. I regret that.
Mike Hebert and I will continue, I'm sure, to butt heads whenever we have contrasting views as we both work for what we feel is the best interest of our particular constituencies. But in this matter I'd agreed with Mike... and I really didn't want to focus on this particular negative issue any more.
BCTV has so much POSITIVE benefit to offer everyone watching it, everyone making programs for it, and everyone getting involved as supporters making sure that the public access to free speech is kept safe in these difficult times.
Keep an eye on iBrattleboro for upcoming meetings and workshops where YOU can learn tv and sound recording skills, can make a difference at BCTV and can help elevate our local access station to become one of the best in the country.
