The BMH Birthing Center and Brattleboro Area La Leche League are joining together to collect clean used or new carriers for hurricane Katrina survivors.

The safest place to be during scary times is in the arms of your mom or dad, so nurses in the Birthing Center and members of LLL are seeking to aid survivors who are busy with many tasks by sending down baby carriers, because a parent wearing a sling, wrap, or front carrier can more easily hold a baby or toddler while they work.

People interested in helping may bring these new or used clean baby carriers to The Birthing Center booth at the BMH Health Fair on Saturday, September 10 from 10-2, or bring them to The Birthing Center by September 16, and the nurses will send them to League groups in Louisiana and Mississippi for distribution there. For more information about the baby carrier collection, contact Dawn Kersula DKersula@bmhvt.org
