Let me start by saying, we (myself and co-host) have been DJ’s on community for more than a year before signing onto the WOOL-lp 100.1 fm Bellow Falls VT. Our listeners are Christians, our content is for Christians, and we hope to be back on the air as soon as possible.
As concerned citizens and newly paying members of WOOL-lp 100.1 fm Bellow Falls VT. we would like to bring to the attention of community station listeners and supporters some issues of importance.
1. Is the WOOL-lp operating a legitimate Community Radio Station or are they using this model as an inexpensive method of forming a private corporate station?
2. Are they treating their members fairly? Since becoming member of this station we feel we have been harassed/treated with cold shoulders, misled, used for our donation, and put-a-side.
HERE ARE THE REASONS:
In August /05 we paid our dues. Their dues policy requires DJ’s to pay a minimum of $25.00 a year to become a show host. Shortly after paying we received a membership card in the mail that expires Dec/31/05. A period of less than 6 months.
We were not informed about our starting date until a day after we were scheduled, even though it was assigned a schedule long before the starting date. This caused us to miss our first show. The listeners that we had informed that we would be on the air shortly, listened to the top 15 from the computer. Also, to communicate with me they use a private email that they were not given. My Co-host receives email about everything else but pertinent information pertaining to our show and schedule.
The next week we arrived to do our show and found the door was locked. Luckily we gained entrance by asking an employee who worked in the building if she could open the door. She was very unhappy about doing this but we showed her our membership cards and she let us in. No one had taken the time to tell us we needed a key or how to get it.
The next week we were not able at all to gain entrance and do our show. We arrived at the station to and found the door locked again and no one was there to let us in. We spent the 2 hours of the show, trying to get a key from 3 un-answering phone numbers and 1 non-existing business addresses. We were not able to get on the air and our listeners listened to 2 hours of the top 15 from a computer. They could have taken the time to inform us before the show. But they didn‘t.
The last and final incident happened Weds. Sept. 7/05. After doing our show we were RUDELY informed by David Liebtag that our show has been taken off the air and we could no longer broadcast at WOOL-lp.
