Late this afternoon, the Vermont Department of Taxes & Collection Services served a notice to Collected Works & Cafe Beyond for failing to pay back on a bond that was taken out on the store. The notices were posted on their front door and Collected Works & Cafe Beyond is shut down until further notice.
This couldn't have come at a worse time. Not only was it Gallery Walk night, but October is also a busy time of the year with tourism/foliage and all. In addition, it was also opening night for the Brattleboro Literary Festival and only one can imagine that this HAD to be one of their most critical times of the year for making revenue.
Collected Works & Cafe Beyond is located at 59 High Street, behind the Thai restaurant and soon to be finished Plini Park.
