For those who sigh, put up their hands and say "there is no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans" I beg strongly to differ. Not ALL Democrats are sellouts like Bill Clinton. Consider his former VP, Al Gore, whom history will show should have been president in 2001 (and now). It could be one of the greatest tragedies ever that he didn't make it in 2000, because he would have provided the passion and leadership to set this country on the path to correcting our fossil fuel dependency and to lowering our greenhouse gas emmissions, which are still one quarter of the world's total.
Consider the devastating effect of global warming and the passion that Gore brought to the issue. It's probably one of (if not the most) serious problems facing humankind, and we may be reaching critical mass with ice melting that cannot be reversed.
Here is a bit of a blog on Gore's recent speech to students and faculty at Stanford, and the web link for those who want to read more:
"It's Christmas season and Al Gore got into the holiday spirit last night when he presented an absolutely compelling and completely frightening lecture at Stanford University. The choice he gave the audience was red or green. Either we face what the former Vice President called our "moral responsibility" by taking action to fix environmental degradation or we risk the devastating (and perhaps near-term) results of global warming."
