NAIS

It was apparent to me at the last Post Oil Solutions meeting that many there were unaware of the impending federal legislation to make mandatory the registration of ALL livestock, called the National Animal Identification System or NAIS for short.

This is coming down fast, folks, & it must be stopped or raising food for ourselves will become prohibitively expensive & bog us down with massive amounts of paperwork. The worst thing about it is that the government will be tracking you & your animals through a global positioning system keyed into a national database.

PLEASE go to http://nonais.org to inform yourselves about
this invasion of privacy & to find out how to take steps to stop it. Whatever you do, DO NOT voluntarily "register" your animals with the state agriculture department! They would like you to think it is necessary to trace animals in
the event of mad cow disease or avian flu, but the truth is, privately-raised meat, milk & eggs are safer than that which is sold in the supermarket.

This law may be beneficial for factory farms that ship their products all over the country, but it will just financially overburden the homesteader & prevent those who want to buy good, safe, local products from their neighbor from
doing so.
