TASTE OF THE TOWN FEEDS The WINSTON L. PROUTY CENTER
Brattleboro, VT – The Winston L. Prouty Center for Child Development is pleased to announce that the annual Taste of the Town, will take place May 12th, 6-8pm at the American Legion Post #5 at 32 Linden Street in Brattleboro.
The Winston L. Prouty Center, a place where every child is special, produces Taste of the Town as their solitary annual fundraiser, which has become the area’s unique and very popular tradition for celebrating spring by offering the public an array of the area’s chefs’ creations.
This year’s Taste of the Town will hopefully raise more funds than in previous years to help make the transitional move from 10 Oak Street to the newly purchased Christian Heritage School on Guilford Street this summer. The 30+ year old Center, which offers quality child care and services for children with special needs.
The $35 ticket to The Taste of the Town gives one the taste of delectable appetizers and desserts donated from the best chefs and caterers in the area in addition to two drinks from the bar.
Once again, the sought after bouquets and arrangements donated by area florists and nurseries that help transform the Legion to the idyllic setting of a spring garden will be given away as door prizes. The silent and live auction will offer great services from area merchants and businesses. There will be musical entertainment as well.

Some of the auction items include: a $295 Telescope Concord rocking chair donated by Friends of the Sun; two rounds of 18 holes for 4 people at the Brattleboro Country Club donated by GPI Construction; $100 earrings or gift certificate by Renaissance Jewelry, Tax Return by Kathy Tracey; Gift Certificate from Curves; Yellow Barn Music Festival Tickets; tickets to March of Dimes fundraising dinner in the fall, gift certificates from area merchants such as Burrows Specialized Sports, Shoe Tree, Verde and much more.
Carley’s Florist, Linden Gardens, Newfane Greenhouse, Rashed’s Garden Center, Taylor for Flowers, Walker Farm, and Windham Flowers create extravagant arrangements that show off their best designs that decorate the tables and dress up the decor. The lavishness of past arrangements has created an excitement for people who choose to attend solely for the opportunity to win one of the arrangements as a door prize.
The Winston L. Prouty Center has provided unique educational services and support to children, families and professional in Windham County for over 30 years. Their focus has been on children with special needs to whom educational programs are offered that reflect national best practice. These include: family centered services, hands-on and direct specialized services with school districts and integrated early childhood experiences. All of these services enhance the development of children with special needs, as well as provide an environment where all children learn and grow in a supportive atmosphere. The Prouty Center’s program includes The Family Infant Toddler Program, The Early Learning Center and the Family Outreach Coordinator.
