Q: If you are the most unpopular lame duck “president” in history with no mandate and no conscience, a quagmire of an occupation and no sense of political or moral direction, what would you do?
A: Start a new front on the War on Sanity with a massive PR campaign to waste our collective time attempting to add a couple of lousy, stupid, useless amendments to our already badly battered Constitution that will make discrimination and suppression of freedom of expression the law of the land.
Of course the only real purposes of this subterfuge is to please hard core right wing radicals and to distract the public and the media from the pile of scandals all pointing to the Bush “administration”.
It's an effort to please right wing fundamentalists and to push through the last bits of odious legislation (such as the recent tax breaks for m(b)illionaires that were going to expire if they didn't extend them. Our children will pay for those.) before they lose control of the house and/or Senate in November.
I don't think they will ultimately be successful with the amendments, but I do think they will waste a lot of time that could be devoted to solving real problems and they will distract the media and some of the easily distracted public from their other bad policies and the further decent into madness.
This is an opportunity to further expose the GOP as a bunch of jerks who are wasting our time and money on stupid vanity projects.
How many children go to bed hungry every night?
How many families did we bomb in May?
How long will it take to deal with the deficit spending of the past 5 years?
How long will it take to even begin to address the biggest threats that confont us like global warming?
And how many flags have been burned and how many gay people got married and who exactly did that harm?
If there is going to be an amendment let's have one that forbids the burning of children with U.S. military hardware.
Call the tune. What do we want to be burning while they fiddle?
