After fielding some phone calls and a couple of emails, I have to report to the Localvore movement that no, McKenzie meat products are not in any way local.
Everybody (it seems) knows I work at the coop. The deli has stuck a couple of tags on McKenzie meats saying it's Localvore. I went to their website:

They're not. I have called and notified the front end, the deli manager and everybody on the Post Oil list. The parent company, Kayem foods, bought the McKenzie brand and make things according to the old recipe from Vermont. But the meat is not of Vermont origin itself. Hope this straightens things out.
