Elect Terry Martin Sheriff

While I an running unopposed in the Primary as a Republican for the Office of Sheriff of Windham County, I would value YOUR Vote, both in the Primary and the General Elections. IF you do not see "Terry Martin" on the ballot you will need to choose from (Democratic, Independent, Progressive or Republican) you may choose to "write in" my name.

As we all found out in the 2002 Election the "letter" that one has behind his or her name is not necessarily the most important when it comes to county and local elections in comparison to the qualifications. We put Sheriff Graham into office election after election for his 33 years of dedicated service, yet he had an "R" behind his name. More importantly, he had the qualifications, law enforcement, business and communication skills.

I have gathered support from all sides of the aisle and have, as many of you have seen, sot to remove that aisle in that the office is really a non-partisan position that represents all peoples. A demostration has been my attending Democratic, Progressive and Republican meetings.  In my 40 years of experience I have always worked with everyone regardless of party affiliation, lifestyle, or stature in life. I'm a long time resident of the County and have worked in and know every town. Further, I know many of you and others within the county.

Here's a syllabus of my qualifications and experience I will honorably bring to the Office of Sheriff:

LAW ENFORCEMENT:

• 2 years with the Military Criminal Justice System (Chief Clerk of Courts & Boards)
• 2 years with Brattleboro Police (2 years concurrent with WCSD)
• 28 years with the Vermont State Police (retired a Senior Sergeant)
• 8 years with the U.S. Marshal's Federal Court Security Program (Assistant Lead CSO)

BUSINESS:

• Founder, President & Senior Consultant of a highly successful Safety Consulting business since 1988 (18 years)
• Interim Principal of a private school
• Branch Supervisor for Vermont National Bank at the Mt. Snow Branch during the ski season
• Interim Executive Director of Rescue Inc managing a balanced 1.4 million dollar budget

COMMUNICATIONS:

• 8 years as the Crime Prevention Officer for all of Windham County
• 8 years as a Public Information Officer (PIO) working with all forms of Media (printed, radio and television
