But, Who Should I Vote For In The Other Races?

I know who I'm voting for in the major races, but... what about the seats for which there is no Republican to vote against? Or the ones for which the Republican nominee is also the Democratic nominee (State Treasurer and State's Attorney)?

For State Senator, you can vote for two people, there are two Democratic candidates and two Liberty Union candidates. I don't know anything about any of the four... For Justice of the Peace you can vote for up to 15 people and there are 23 people on the ballot, 1 of whom I know personally.

For any of these positions there could be write-in candidates that I don't know about - last election one of my friends was elected town meeting rep, though I had no idea he was running. Please tell me anything you can about anyone who's name is on the ballot (or who's running as a write-in). You can find links to sample ballots (PDFs) at: http://www.brattleboro.org/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC=

(BTW, where I grew up they mail sample ballots to all registered voters and I think they should do that everywhere, but that's a subject for a different day.)

Thanks in advance to any who'll share useful info at this last minute.
