Dummerston author and Brattleboro Reformer columnist Joyce Marcel will bring her essay- and storytelling skills to the December Media Mentoring workshops.

Since 1989, Joyce Marcel has been writing a weekly column in the Brattleboro Reformer about politics, culture and social issues. Her columns also appear on-line at The American Reporter
(american-reporter.com) and Common Dreams (commondreams.org.)
She recently published an essay collection called A Thousand Words or Less. Marcel is also a freelance journalist who has written for the Boston Globe, Vermont Business Magazine, Vermont Life and many other newspapers and magazines.
Her Media Mentoring workshops will be all about opinions: forming opinions, backing them up with research, and writing so that so other people will be interested in reading them. Marcel will also talk about how to deal with controversy. Whether you want to write columns or letters to the editor, this might be information you want to hear.
