So much for the Democrats... so much for the debate on the Iraq War resolution.

According to Raw Story

After being assailed by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for being "driven by a desire to provide political cover for President Bush," the Republican Leadership in the Senate succeeded in preventing debate on a resolution that criticized President George W. Bush's escalation plan for Iraq.

After a vote of 49-47 to invoke cloture, Democratic Senators failed to encourage enough Republicans to cross the aisle and end a filibuster that blocked debate on Republican-Democratic compromise between Armed Services Committee Chairman Dick Levin and Ranking Member John Warner
