How effective is fiscal conservatism? Last night on the television I saw that this Republican Administration was able to successfully ship 353 tons of one hundred dollar bills to the middle of the Iraqi war zone. Shrink wrapped pallets going on to transport planes.
Unfortunately, after the planes landed, a large number of the pallets disappeared. Just think what difference one of those pallets might have made to the victims of Katrina, or to the poor trying to pay for their prescription drugs or health care, or the port authority trying to inspect cargo containers, or airlines trying to reinforce cabin doors. Instead, we hand them out, drop them from planes, or stuff them in the pockets of a people 60% of whom, at last count, think it is just great to kill Americans.
These are the most expensive politicians we have ever tried to buy, and facts suggest, we have tried to buy many. So what's the new slogan? Buy and Run? Cut and Buy? How about "Buy and Plead?" Look there on the runway, a smiling Maliki with a Halliburton pocket protector saying, "thanks for the money, sorry about your kids."
