I found it of interest that at the last board meeting, Brattleboro Selectboard chair, Audrey Haskins announced she wanted to keep the meetings under three hours and that she would allow only three minutes per person to speak during citizens' participations.
I waited and waited to hear the outrage from Stephen K-Brooks and Pat DeAngelo aboout Audrey's impingemnet upon the right of free speech and citizen participation, but none came. Are they only outraged when such rules are announced by their political opponents?
Actually, I applaud Audrey's decision. Trying to conduct Town business into the wee hours of the morning is ridiculous and counterproductive.
What I find even more interesting though is that the party who was one of the most responisble for the lengthy meetings was Audrey herself. Her drawn out cross-examinations and word by word review of the minutes took inordinate amounts of time away from the business of the board.
It's funny how that shoe feels when its on the other foot.
