The number of injuries and fatalities suffered by our youngest drivers is a sobering statistic. A program has been developed in conjunction with the Youth Safety Council of Vermont that can positively affect that rate and reduce teen crashes by offering our young drivers a hands-on advanced driver training program, which compliments Vermont’s traditional Driver Education programs.
The next program will be available to local youth on June 25th at Barnes Airport in Westfield, MA.
The program is targeted toward 16 and 17-year old students who have a learner’s permit, are enrolled or have recently completed a Driver Education Program and preferably have at least 20 hours of on-road driving experience prior to taking the training. The agenda covers a variety of topics and hands-on exercises including straight-line braking with ABS brakes, steering and maneuvering in emergency situations, how to avoid tailgate collisions and presentations by experienced driving instructors on related topics, including the effects of alcohol, drugs, and distraction on the safe operation of a motor vehicle.
This program is available at a discounted price as a result of the generous support of the Brattleboro Rotary Clubs, interested local businesses and individuals. For additional information or to register, please contact Mike 802-254-6016
