This information is important not only to journalists, but to all who are concerned with democracy.
The material is drawn from a Poynter Institute course created by Charles Davis and Joel Campbell, co-chairpersons of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Freedom of Information Committee, for use in the SPJ/Bloomberg Journalism Training program, funded by Bloomberg News.
The workshops will be presented by Kathryn Casa, interim editor of The Commons.
Each month Vermont Independent Media hosts a free writing workshop open to the public. The Media Mentoring Project (MMP) is a program for all people throughout Windham County who are interested in improving their journalism and other media literacy skills.
This will be the final Vermont Independent Media sponsored writing workshops of the summer season. MMP workshops will resume in September.
