Friday afternoon storms caused sporadic power outages in the area. One of the reported power losses was the Municipal Center's elevator which was transporting former Selectperson Joerg Mayer at the time.
According to Muncipal Center sources, Mr. Mayer was detained by the inactive elevator for approximately 30 minutes and required assistance to be let free. The Brattleboro Fire Department assisted in the rescue, which involved lifting from above.
Everything worked out, despite a few tense moments.
