So I had major surgery 3 weeks ago. I had to get to the grocery store to get whatever I needed to get through this recovery.
So as I pull up to Price Chopper and hobble inside (Still not walking, hobbling only.) I get to the electric shopping carts (Like elderly people use) and I sit down. My 8 year old daughter was really jealous.. :)
So, I get ready to shop and have to wait a few minutes for people to clear my way so I can leave the plug-in station. Once I got out into the store I realized that I was not going to be able to shop as I had expected.. Sigh...
From the moment I began shopping in the store, people were RUDE! Standing in my way, cutting me off and making unneeded comments about how I was in their way..
As I get through a few isles I realize that the brakes on the cart were HARSH! After breaking a few times, it felt as if the 300 stitches I had were going to tear. My face began getting hotter as I went to the next isle. Suddenly I realized that I wasn't getting anything on the top shelves.. I couldn't...I couldn't reach, nor stand to stretch to get the items that were above the second shelf. (That meant that 3 shelves were off limits.. That was allot of products!) I had my daughter slinkying up the seat on the shopping cart to attempt to reach them but even some were out of her reach..
My husband was at the meat section (We split up trying to save time and recovery resources, I get weak quick...)
So I go to the deli and while pondering what I wanted, I realized that the deli-woman was helping everyone but me..
My husband came to place things in the cart and when he asked the deli-woman to assist us, she was really mean and abrupt to us. Others who were at the deli even glanced over at her and I. She was mad because she misheard what I had requested and my husband tried to catch her before she sliced anymore of the wrong meat and she yelled at us that she wasn't going to take orders from two people.... Really odd. I was embarrassed for her. A neighboring shopper, even commented to my husband on how rude she was.
I got so irritated with her I left to get the frozen foods. Got to the doors and realized I can't even open them, the cart wouldn't allow it...
Went to the yogurts the next isle over, couldn't reach them...Thankfully a gentleman helped me, but at that time I had had it!
I gave the $300 to my husband and left the store and waited at the car..
When we got home we had the wrong deli items... :(|
My point about all this is that usually elderly, disabled and handicapped people use those carts, not so many people recovering from surgery. I learned a valuable lesson I wanted to share with all of you.....
"Be kind to those people using those carts! They aren't even able to really shop. People are generally rude, impatient and inconsiderate. If you see someone using a cart, take 2 minutes to see if you can make their day better."
