"Governor Douglas Appoints Tracy Kelly Shriver as Windham County
State's Attorney
Montpelier, Vt. - Governor Douglas announced today that he has
appointed Tracy Kelly Shriver as Windham County State's Attorney.
Ms. Shriver replaces Dan Davis who retired on October 1.
Tracy was born in Burlington, Vermont. She attended Essex Junction
Educational Center in Essex Junction, Vermont and graduated cum
laude from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor
of Arts in English. She then returned to Vermont to attend law school
and received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Vermont Law School in
South Royalton in 1995. Immediately after law school, she served as
a judicial law clerk for all of the trial courts in Bennington, Vermont.
Following that, she worked in private practice in Springfield, Vermont
until she joined the Windham County State's Attorney's Office in July
1999.
Tracy served as the prosecutor for the Domestic Violence Unit,
handling all the domestic assault cases in Windham County, for almost
seven years. Most recently, as a deputy state's attorney, she
prosecuted a wide array of different crimes. Additionally, she was co-
counsel with former Windham County State's Attorney, Dan Davis, in
the successful aggravated murder prosecution of Michael Perez for the
double homicide in Grafton, Vermont in 2002.
"I am pleased that Tracy agreed to serve as Windham County State's
Attorney. She is a skilled prosecutor who has earned the respect and
confidence of the law enforcement community," said Douglas. "I am
confident that Tracy will provide strong leadership with integrity and
dedication."
Tracy lives in Brattleboro with her husband, Alexander ("Sandy")
Shriver, and their two children."
- that would have been an untenable mistake.
