In an effort to raise awareness of local food products and raise money, Rutland area farmers have stripped down and gotten naked in the fields to produce a calendar to benefit the Rutland Area Farm & Food Link. The calendar is available in the towns of Benson, Brandon, Castleton, Mendon, Poultney, Rutland, Wells, West Rutland, and even across the border in Granville, NY.
According to the organization's website:
"In addition to profiles of each highlighted farm, the calendar is filled with tips on how to support local agricultural and sustainable food production in your community. You'll find the start days of local farmers' markets dappling the pages and important agricultural tidbits from the global to the local perspective."
Black and white photos of farmers in the buff are the main feature, though.
The project is similar to the 2003 Men of Brattleboro calendar produced by the Brattleboro Rotary Club to raise money and attention for a good cause.
