"Old House" Dwellers: How Do You Heat Upstairs?

Last year I bought a typical late-1800's 2-story house house in Brattleboro. It's main source of heat is an oil furnace. The downstairs heats up quickly and well.

But upstairs it is freezing! Only one heat duct from the furnace goes to one of three upstairs bedrooms. The others just have grates in the floor which are supposed to let heat rise from downstairs. Right.

How do you heat the upstairs in your Big Old House?
