Stand for EQUAL rights for same-sex couples in Vermont!

Public Hearing in Brattleboro

Wednesday December 5th
Brattleboro Middle School
Activity Room
5-6: Informational Session
6:30-8:30: Public Hearing -- We need you there!!!!

This hearing is CRITICAL! The Blue Ribbon Commission, formed to study same-sex marriage in Vermont, is holding 6 of its public hearings through December to hear from Vermonters. It will report what Vermonters say to the Legislature to determine if Vermont should provide full equality to same-sex couples. We need supporters of equality to go to the hearing portion on November 19th.

Here’s why:

- Loving, committed couples are still treated unfairly. Sandi and Bobbi
Cote-Whitacre have been together for 40 years. Their dream is to marry in their home state of Vermont. Although they pay taxes, contribute to their community, and are helpful to their neighbors, they are denied what is fundamentally fair: equal recognition, security and protections for their family.

- The Commission will report ONLY what it hears and sees at the hearings to the Legislature. We must ensure that voices of fairness and justice win out in Vermont!

- The time to move forward is now! In Canada to our north, and Massachusetts to our south, same-sex couples can marry. We urge you to speak in favor of respect, dignity and the fair treatment of all Vermonters. This is the most important time for marriage equality since 2000.
