Windham Regional Commission
Public Hearing on ENVY's Petition to run till 2032
Monday, January 7, 6:30 pm
Red Roof Inn (formerly Quality Inn)
1380 Putney Rd, Brattleboro, VT
A lot of meetings are held where townspeople can make it clear why we want Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee to close. This meeting's important because it's our own town representatives to the Windham Regional Commission who will be carrying our message to the state Public Service Board. The Commissioners are our neighbors, and they share our objections and concerns. Energy Committee members asked ENVY critical questions about nuclear waste storage, employment data, power supply, embrittled metals, etc. Much of the information supplied by ENVY was several years out of date.
You can read the info submitted by ENVY on the WRC Energy Committee site. Or at the at the WRC office, 139 Main Street, Suite 505, Brattleboro. We won't be able to get any information at the meeting from ENVY.
If possible, bring written questions or comments to give the commissioners, because there may be more people than time to speak.
Windham Regional Plan includes this statement:
“Encourage a requirement that permanent spent nuclear fuel (SNF) storage be resolved prior to any consideration of extending or reviewing the operating license of Vermont Yankee.”

This is an "Action Alert" from Nuclear Free Vermont (NFV), a citizen action group committed to closing the Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee (ENVY) power plant when its license expires in 2012 if not before.
These alerts provide information about opportunities to influence policies (attend key hearings, write or call decision makers, etc.) and to learn more about the issues. We promise not to overload your inboxes with alerts!
