Brattleboro Hires Roderick Francis as Planning Director

"Town Hires Planning Director

The Town of Brattleboro is very happy to announce that Roderick Francis has accepted the position of Planning Director. Rod has over twenty years experience in the field of planning. Currently a planner with the Windham Regional Commission, Rod has worked on a variety of projects, from emergency preparedness to subdivision regulations to town plans. Prior to his work at the Windham Regional Commission, Rod taught planning, economics, and geography at the college-level; most recently at Westfield State College and Dartmouth College. In addition to his professional work, Rod has served on the Amherst Planning Board, the Putney Planning Commission, and the Northeast Regional Housing Council.

Rod has Bachelor and Doctorate degrees from Monash University, Australia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, and the Northern New England Chapter of American Planning Association. An interview committee consisting of Town Manager Barbara Sondag, Finance Director John Leisenring, Selectboard Representative Dora Bouboulis, Planning Commission Chair Kevin Maloney, and Development Review Board Chair Craig Miskovich, unanimously supported the appointment of Mr. Francis. Rod will join the planning team on February 4, 2007. Town Officials look forward to the leadership and planning expertise that Rod brings to the department."
