Mike and Steve Perrucci toppled their domino design at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center Tuesday evening to a packed crowd.

Earlier in the day I stopped by to see the set-up. They told me that they got started doing this as kids, that the bigger, home made dominos worked better than the ones that most people play with, and that the main skill to have is patience.

They said they used over 6,000 pieces to do this layout and it took nearly 9 hours, with a bit of assistance from some lucky kids late in the day.

In this layout, they incorporated the Vermont state flower, a sign that says "Shhh!", a heart, clover, pumpkin, flag, and the BMAC logo, as well as Rube Goldberg type contraptions that lifted gates, rolled balls on ramps, and rang cymbals. So much for the "Shhh!" sign.

The first domino fell at about 6pm. I got there at about 6 pm and 45 seconds thanks to slow moving traffic through town, so I missed the start. No matter, everyone missed something because the crowd was large in number and eager to move about to get the best views for themselves as each domino fell around the room.

n addition to the whirling-about-trying-to-get-a-good-shot but failing, I did capture a few key moments and was happy to get a good shot of the ending.

After it was over, people mingled and got closer looks, analyzing key aspects of the layout and design. Many participated in the cleaning up, too.
