Using BCTV to provide live coverage of high school games has been a dream of BUHS principal Jim Day’s for a long time. Day contacted BCTV a year ago, in an effort to get the basketball playoffs on the air. BCTV executive director Cor Trowbridge was excited about the idea. It took several months of planning and technical adjustments to get a reliably good picture and sound from the high school onto the channel. Trowbridge credits the enthusiasm of Principal Day and the collaborative efforts of BCTV staff and BUHS faculty with bringing the dream to fruition. Says Day: “Gary Blomgren has done the lion’s share of the work to make live television a reality for the BUHS community.”
Several games have already been broadcast this season, and the game against Hartford on February 19 will be the last unless BUHS hosts a playoff game. BCTV Channel 10 is available to Comcast customers in Brattleboro, Guilford and Vernon. For more information, call 257-0888.
