Questions & AnswersAlthough I have lived in Brattleboro for 28-1/2 years and even though I should know every nook and cranny of it by heart, I have to ask the following question.

I have found a picture of a snow-covered street on the Internet that looks awfully like Flat Street in Brattleboro but I am not 100% certain (right now I am between 90 and 95%) that it is what I think it is.

Could someone please view the photo and tell me whether it is Flat Street with Samuel Elliott Apartments (maybe) somewhat visible in the background?

I'm sorry, this doesn't look like Brattleboro at all to me.

The Samuel Elliot Apartments were built in 1982. So if they are in the picture, it's after 1982. Guess I never thought you would be able to see the high rise from Flat Street, or Frost Street for that matter.

Seems like this would have to be downtown yet none of the buildings look familiar. Since the picture doesn't give the impression of being very old I agree that it probably wasn't taken in Bratt.

I'm fascinated with this photo. I don't think it's Brattleboro, but then again, it's possible it could be Brattleboro. It could also be a back street in Portland, Maine, or Fitchburg, Massachusetts. I love the dreamlike sense I get looking at it that I've been there at some point but don't quite know when. Thanks for this, even if we don't collectively confirm the location.

I used to walk down Flat Street on my way to visit my mother who used to live on Frost Street, therefore you'd probably think that I would know whether this is Flat Street or not. I probably never noticed the "unimportant" things (like look at that dull creepy looking building over there) while on my way to my mom's house because I am always thinking about something while walking. Who needs an iPod or an iPhone when you've have your thoughts to entertain yourself?

Nice photo! It's not Bratt but I like the photographer's work. He lives in Toronto. I'm guessing it's either Kingston or Toronto in Ontario. There are the words "princess" and "square" in the filename. I wondered if it was the Princess Square area of Kingston, Ont. I sent the photographer an email asking for more info about the photo so we'll see if he replies. I also included this URL so who knows - maybe he'll reply here, although it would require the extra step of registering, so maybe not.

No, it doesn't look like Brattleboro to me.

It doesn't even look like a photograph to me. it looks more like a photorealist-type painting. But I could be wrong about that...

Lovely picture of someplace else. I can see how the style of the brick
building at near right might lead one to think it's in Bratt, but nothing
    else.

Now that I think about Flat Street more, I remember that the entrance to Sam's is more decorative with an awning (I think), the street curves to the left a bit more and you probably cannot see Samuel Elliot Apartments from Flat Street. I guess I saw this on another website and "wished" it was Brattleboro. Oh, well...

It reminds me of a neighborhood in Brooklyn! It is a lovely dreamy photo, wherever it originates. Thanks.

    I believe it is Toronto.

    The photographer's website is here:

Since I don't know how to make this a clickable link, you'll have to cut-n-paste yourself. ;-)

It's NOT Flat Street or Brattleboro

I was wrong, it was Princess Street in Toronto and that's all I have to say about it.
