The Youth Horticulture Project (YHP), a program of University of Vermont Extension, offers the opportunity to experience working with youth and learning about organic gardening/farming. People taking part in an internship with YHP are a vital part of the program and are expected to be active in both farming and working with youth.

The goal of the program is to use horticulture as a vehicle for developing the life skills of young people. Programs take place on our 1 acre farm in Brattleboro, VT, and provide the opportunity for youth to develop life and job skills such as communication, teambuilding, and leadership. Our programs aim to improve the lives of the young people that we work with and the communities in which they live.

Interns are expected to have – and to model – a solid work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work as a member of a team. If time allows, interns will also have the opportunity to work in areas that reflect the intern's interests as they relate to the program. This is a great summer opportunity for an Antioch grad student looking to fulfill a practicum or a college student looking for more agricultural education experience.
