    True March Madness!
    Tuesday, March 25 2008 @ 02:58 PM EDT
    Contributed by: barbaralew

NatureJust as I begin to think that life is so ho-hum and nothing exciting ever happens, I get to witness at least one case, each and every year, of true “march madness”.

It’s a delight to behold - it inspires me, amuses me and let’s me know that people are not always taking themselves so seriously that they won’t risk a little - er; ah - publicly wacky behavior in all the name of SPRING! It is only in her honor that I ever see such wanton disregard for the need to appear credible and sane, and I know the world is well when I finally spot those one or two people who will, without shame, demand and make way for her entrance!

It reminds me of the lawnmowers, garden hoes and bird feeders - barbeques, bathing suits and flip-flops that are to come. How many of us have these thoughts while we still trudge over frozen snow banks and buried grass in March? At least one……!

I have just witnessed someone who has, over the course of two days and with great effort, chopped, hacked, shoveled, hurled and tossed his way into springtime - there’s barely a drop of snow left in most of his yard, and it looks like there may be one more day or work ahead before I can officially declare that Winter is over, folks - at least for him - Done, pal - gonzo! Outta here ~ Tah-tah and Toodaloo!

To be so welcome as Spring; I don’t know if any person alive would uncover an entire yard of snow just for me - so, no doubt she’s honored, flattered and hoping to make her grand entrance soon enough.

Meantime, I’m waiting to see if the trend continues - and God forbid it catches up to me and the foot deep, rock hard drifts that remain in my yard… I have no choice but to borrow his ice pick and shovel and wear my winter boots one last time!

    True March Madness!

It's always heartening to hear that someone's finally had it and is giving Mother Nature a shove ahead!

I keep getting emails from family and friends in Canada who are going on and on about their daffys and pulmonaris coming up...rmmph.

If you decide to take a pick to that lawn, let me know! I'll join ya. I've had it, too.
