As Maine Goes, So Goes The Nation, But...

OpinionAS BRATTLEBORO GOES, SO GOES KENNEBUNKPORT.

A resident of Kennebunkport, currently an Independent candidate for the US Senate is sponsoring a resolution to indict Bush and Cheney.

The Portland newspaper published an article which prompted a response which mentions Brattleboro and Marlboro, and makes some interesting points:

"Dear Editor of the Portland Press Herald:

Your March 3, 2008 “Indicting Bush and Cheney Would Make Town Look Small” totally missed the mark. On March 5, 2008, 2012 Brattleboro, Vermont voters voted “yes” and passed an historic indictment of President Bush and Vice President Richard with the same wording that I proposed for a Kennebunkport indictment of these two war criminals against the Constitution and humanity. The neighboring town of Marlboro, Vermont did the same. That did not make those towns look “small”, but rather won them worldwide acclaim for the stark contrast they pose to our federal executive and legislature whose hideously illegal wars of aggression, occupation and omnicide in Afghanistan and Iraq, including crimes of torture, illegal imprisonment, religious and cultural humiliation, murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, indiscriminate bombing of hospitals, schools, food warehouses, water supplies; depleted uranium environmental contamination; and more; have earned us the righteous contempt of the civilized world...."
