Questions & AnswersHey all you McCain supporters can you tell me:

Would you trust this man with your checkbook?
"I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues...The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should."

    Is McCain suffering memory loss?
"I will conduct a respectful debate. Now, it will be dispirited -- it will be spirited -- because there are stark differences. I am a proud conservative, liberal Republica-- conservative Republican...Hello? Easy there."

Do you really believe that 45 years of surfer music had no impact on his beliefs?
"You know that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran? Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran."

Is he anything more than a poorly spoken hateocrite?
"Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father." --at a 1998 Republican fundraiser

    Is he speaking from experience?
"I said, 'The nice thing about Alzheimer's is you get to hide your own Easter eggs.'"

    McCain Questions
Authored by: RLElkins on Friday, March 28 2008 @ 09:10 AM EDT
I was never a supporter of John McCain. My personal hero is Hillary Clinton. Why? As a former US soldier serving in NATO, I was at the Bosnia Airport twelve years ago when First Lady Hillary Clinton arrived. The moment Hillary departed the plane the tarmac was hit by mortars and automatic gun fire that threw me off my tank. With no regard for her own safety, Mrs. Clinton immediately ran over, unholstered my 9mm Beretta and opened fire killing over two hundred of the enemy. When a suicide bomber approached her, Mrs. Clinton lowered the gun and spoke quietly to him in his native language. He cried and surrendered blaming his hatred of America on the failed policies of George H Bush. Using her Swiss Army knife, Mrs. Clinton defused the bomb he attached to his vest. She then ran over to me, stopped my bleeding and saved my life. Chelsea Clinton, who was beside her during the entire episode, donated the blood. I am relating this true story to the readers of iBrattleboro because Hillary Clinton is simply too modest to tell it.

Because of RLElkins timely and informative post, I am now better informed to make a worthwhile decision in the upcoming presidential election. Many thanks, RLElkins!

Which McCain didn't you support? The one that was against the tax cuts for the rich or the current one who is for them. The one that was for immigration amnesty or the one that is against it. The one that was for a woman's choice or the one who is prolife? The one who thought Bush an abomination because he started rumors about his out of wedlock black child or the one who doesn't remember that? The one who rejected Falwell or the one who spoke at his school? The one who was against torture or the current one who doesn't particularly mind? The one who thought ethanol was a boondoggle or the one who has seen the light of donations? The maverick or the McBush? Perhaps when you get over the trama of being saved by a Democrat, again, you'll tell us.

Just as I've thought; neocons have no sense of humor.

It's impressed me that the only thing that comes near humor to neocons is vindictive nastiness. Anyone else noticed this?

I once lived in an all white neighborhood and we were all very close. I was taken in by this upper, and upper middle class and they confided in me. They treated me as one of their own. I even attended their church services, where we all listened to countless sermons and preachings, and were given weekly inspirations to make this world a better place, which we knew meant "bomb Iran".
It had nothing to do with the song, stupid; although it now strikes me in hindsight as a real 20/20 to where we were going. You're just jealous that we got here first..... Thank-you!
(written by barbaralew's evil and twisted twin, who, thanks to state of the art therapeutics and mental health care services now widely available, and the current administration, shows daily improvement in both cognitive and social skills; her most current workshops included "How to Get Rich by Undertaking Undertaking;America's fastest growing industry". future plans as social skills improve are to attend the 4 day workshop on "Conducting Military Funerals on a Shoe-String in the Years Ahead".)

    I'm 'concerned' about McCain.

Can anyone explain his support from radical clerics such as Pastor
    John
Hagge, advocate of Armageddon? I'm just not sure that would be a
    good
    association for a world leader.

I am glad to hear Clinton created Bosnia. She's very talented.

Much was said this week about McCain getting the soft treatment/sweet deal from the media. That seems glaringly obvious in the case of McCain's buddy-boy relationship with John Hagee. Hagee's a real freakin fruit loop, but not a blip about him- it's all about Obama's preacher. Makes you wonder, dunnit?

The preacher issue of both candidates is a red herring and I think the media and everybody else is jumping on a real non issue. Their are other issues the public need to focus on.

    Here's a quote from Hagee.
""John McCain is a man of principle," Hagee, a televangelist and the pastor of Cornerstone Church, told reporters. "He does not stand boldly on both sides of any issue."

    Really?

Imagine this in a John Kerry voice. I actually voted for amnesty before I voted against it.

Interesting that there were no rational replies from our conservative posters. I guess the stonewalling is par for the course. Much like Bush's handbook on protestors; as long as his staff banish them to "Free Speech Zone" containments where he can't see or hear them, they don't exist. After all, we're just collateral.

Perhaps no one replied to your questions since they were nothing of the sort. Why don't you go post on Free Republic or LFG if you want "conservative" feedback?

Perhaps it's because you use terms like "hateocrite" (ohhh, almost as clever as neocon taliban) and then when RLElkins demonstrates how to properly write pointed, funny satire, you claim it's nothing more than "vindictive nastiness."

Keep bumping your dead threads though, it keeps me entertained (doesn't take much)

I thrive on your hatred, PR. These questions are almost lifted word for word from a thread about Obama, remember? Course not. In that thread, plenty of "progressive types" answered without snark. Can't seem to get that from neocons, talibanish or not. Thank you for keeping that phrase alive, BTW. As we've learned from Rove, if you keep repeating something it sticks. Neocon Taliban, Neocon Taliban. Or perhaps we should try to find a middle ground and call it what it technically is- Theocracy. Nah, not catchy enough.

I might be tempted to post rational replies when i start seeing good reasons to support socialism.

By next year (when the second Republican Great Depression hits - and it looks to be at least as bad as the first), the reasons to embrace socialism will be clear.
Oh, I take that back. The reasons are already clear.

Our financial predicament has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats. It has everything to do with a iniquitous monetary system that is about to reach maximum potential and implode. It's a system that thrives off the compound interest equation and requires consumers to request more and more debt in order to keep the system from collapsing.

Government socialism isn't going to solve these problems. It's not going to get any better until people themselves wake up and learn that it's evil to take more than you give. Everyone by nature is capitalistic - that's how we survive. But there's two kinds of capitalism: Absolute capitalism and Logical altruistic capitalism. You can take a guess at which one is destructive and which is not.

I cannot trust any government system to bring about economic equality any more than I'd trust Dick Cheney with a 12-gauge. I've never understood why progressives don't treat economic liberties the same as civil liberties. When the government takes them away, it's always "to protect you." But in reality it is not. Economic liberty isn't a regressive idea - is is quite progressive.

mr. mike, I've always wondered what you have against Socialists. Democratic Socialism is as much a part of our country's history as any other social/political movement. Capitalists, Dems, Repubs, Communists, Theocrats are all part of our Republic. Like em or not, they're all part of the weave that keeps things (usually) in some sort of check so things don't go too far in one way or another.

Don't remember who said it, but there's the old saying that's very American in spirit-"I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." We are all important, our views are important, our participation is important. The US
has been a fast food, tv-addicted nation of non-participants for too long and things have gotten out of balance.
