With Home Depot and Common Ground closing, with the illegal Iraq war and the resultant recession (inspired by corporatist economic plundering), and with May Day only yesterday, it seems a good time to bring people together for what we are billing as a 'PROTEST CONCERT'.

Haymarket Orphans plays for us, with us, tonight, at 8:00, at the Hooker-Dunham Theater. Suggested donations are $5 for youth/students, $10 adults, $15 if you are feeling 'generous'.

You can find out more about Haymarket Orphans (and hear some of their music) here:

Mary Alice Herbert, one of the founding organizers of Brattleboro's 25-year-running May Day celebration, will open the gathering with an account of the Haymarket incident of 1886. The group itself is named for Al, Jr., and Lulu, the two children of Albert and Lucy Parsons -- Albert having been one of the Haymarket martyrs.

So please come to the Hooker-Dunham Theater tonight at 8:00, and pass the word. There will be time allowed for announcements by other kindred organizations from our community.

John Woolman College is a Quaker-related college of peacemaking. 'Jenna Haymarket' is one of the Principal Scholars of the College -- she teaches in one of our colleges in upstate Vermont. A share of the proceeds will also go to London Research, who host the College's seminars in their offices in the Hooker-Dunham Building.

You can contact John Wilmerding at 802-254-2826 or at JWC@igc.org for information.
