Public Right to Know Violated?

Now that the Town has agreed to pay damages for another wrongful tasering incident by the Brattleboro Police Department - this time in 2004 of a fellow dragged our of his hottub and tasered - wrongly - the Town apparently wants to keep from the taxpayers the amount that the Town is paying in settlement.

Since this bounces back to some degree to the taxpayers in higher insurance rates, why aren't the taxpayers to be informed of the costs to us and the Town of the settlement?

We are the employers - if an employee misbehaves and costs us money, don't we have a right to know?

Perhaps a member of the SB, who does know, will tell us why we are not entitled to this information.
