    Public Meeting: Stream Geomorphic Assessment
    Friday, May 09 2008 @ 04:39 PM EDT
    Contributed by: Anonymous

Town PlanOn May 15, the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District (WCNRCD) will host a public meeting to present the results of the Stream Geomorphic Assessment.

The field work and research has been conducted by Amy Sheldon, the project consultant.

Amy will be joined by Marie Caduto, VT DEC Watershed Coordinator, Jolene Hamilton, WCNRCD Manager and Shannon Pytlik, VT River Management Program River Scientist.

The purpose of the Assessment was to establish what was the Whetstone Brooks ‘equilibrium condition’, a time in history when the stream channel was relatively stable, without serious erosion hazards, flood damage and a diverse habitat for aquatic organisms, and compare that to it’s current condition.

This research provides the basis for identifying potential restoration projects that could be implemented by individuals and/or organizations interested in reducing expenses related to flood and erosion hazards, reducing sediment pollution entering the Ball Mountain Brook and in improving aquatic and terrestrial habitat within the watershed.

The meeting will be on May 15, 2008 at 7:00 in the Marlboro College Graduate Center. For more information contact:
