A father buried alive in a debris, after many attempts of dialing, fortunately got through to his daughter who studied in a college in Chengdu. The girl wasted no time in racing back home, and with some migrant workers' help, spent four hours digging out all family members with bare hands.
In the afternoon of May 12,Little Pretty's grandma and her dad were chatting with other family members and a close friend when the earthquake occurred.Their house collapsed and the pile of concrete was all over them.At the same time, the whole city's power supply and communication services stopped. So none of the five trapped could ask for outside help.Only Little Pretty's dad carried a cell phone then,he tried to call his daughter every few minutes, in hope of getting the daughter back to rescue them. But the call never went through.
Early yesterday morning, after emergency repairs, the downtown area of Dujiangyan gradually restored its telecommunication service, yet cellular communication was still extremely unstable.Little Pretty's dad, whose legs were broken, was awaken at midnight by a flushing rain.Again he got out his cell phone and dialed his daughter's phone. At 4 AM he finally heard Ding Little Pretty's voice at the other end.
Before she found time to cry, Little Pretty rushed immediately back to Dujiangyan, which was 100 miles away. Once home, she was fortunate enough to get the tremondous help from a group of rural migrant workers who hurried from Chengdu to offer rescue effort. After their bare hand digging, htey pulled out all five buried underneath the debris.Of the five,Little Pretty's dad was injured, three other loved ones came out safe and sound. There was one dead person, however.
I just read and translated the story for the compassionate Brattleboro readers to share and if possible, care.
