The 2008 Seven Daysies Awards: Pick Your Favorites Now!
    Monday, June 23 2008 @ 11:02 AM GMT+5
    Contributed by: Christian Avard

OtherThe 2008 Seven Daysies awards are back and you have until Friday June 27 to vote for the best of the best in Vermont.

Seven Days Press is Vermont's premier alternative weekly (IMO at least) and winning a Seven Daysies award means something. Our very own iBrattleboro was a top vote getter in the "Best Non-political blog" category (even though they're not a blog) and now we're seeing more things unique to Brattleboro make their categories.

Anyway click here to cast your vote for the best of the best in Vermont. Here are some of my picks:

Best political blog: Vermont Daily Briefing or Green Mountain Daily

As always Philip Baruth is funny. However, Green Mountain Daily's citizen journalism is taking it to the next level. From Second Vermont Republic to juicy inside gossip on Vermont politics, GMD is getting better and better by they day. They also were great advocates for iBrattleboro during the Effie Mayhew lawsuit too. Choose who who want. I'm just giving you my favorites.

Best non political blog: Yes... I know iBrattleboro is NOT a blog. But I'm still voting for you guys.

Best Radio Station I put WKVT. They're the only Air America affiliate in Vermont and they have "Live & Local" with Steve West. The rest of Vermont needs to know we're down here and we've got a great station.

    Best bookstores outside Chittenden County

Everyones Books, Book Cellar, Brattleboro Books, Northshire Books. Those are my choices, you pick your own

Best political reporter DAN BARLOW!!!! I hear there's some support growing for him up north. His blog Vermont View is also a great place to check out. Besides.... he's from Brattleboro!!!! Others to consider, Shay Totten.

Best Pizza outside Chittenden County: My personal fav. is Tony's Pizza, West Dover, VT.

OK. Those are some of my choices. Pick your own and vote by Friday.

I voted iBratt and Philip's blog. I also voted for WKVT. But for pizza, Frankie's. And for McNeill's Brewery, Peter Haven's as restaurant for dinner, Chelsea Royal for breakfast, Coffee Country for coffee shop and Backside for lunch. And Mike Eldred for reporter. :)

Not much snow this January. I'm guessing February will end up

    cold, but not snowy
    cold, and very snowy
a slushy winter mix of rain and snow
    mild with little snow
with a record snowfall on the books
