On Saturday, July 12, local funk/rock band SugarHouse will take to the stage at The Weathervane , raising their voices in the hope of helping to raise funds for their friend Iris Polley.

Nearly one year ago Iris was in a near fatal car accident. Since then, friends and co-workers have rallied together, organizing raffles and tag sales to raise funds to help offset Iris' medical expenses. The event at the Weathervane is the brain child of Loretta Pallazzo, owner of Boomerang.

"Iris was on our softball team and she has played in the local women's softball league for years" said Loretta, "Since this weekend is the annual Gloves, Sweat and Cheers softball tournament (a benefit for the Women's Crisis Center) it seemed like a great time to organize something for Iris."

The owners of The Weathervane, Gina Richard and Andrea Moriarty, were quick to say "Yes" when presented the plan by Pallazzo. "This kind of event fits right in with our vision of bringing community together through art and music." In addition to offering their venue for the event, they will donate a portion of the nights proceeds to the total.

SugarHouse will waive all performance fees for this event. "Iris was one of our biggest fans. She was at nearly every show, dancing the whole night long. We are happy to find a way that our music can help brighten her day!" says lead singer, Cyndi Cain.

Music will start at 8:30 and continue until Midnight. A $10.00 suggested donation will be collected at the door.

If you can't make the event, but would still like to make a donation, you can contact Loretta Pallazzo at (802) 257-6911, or Cyndi Cain at (802) 258-3157.
